Highlights BLICKFANG Zürich

This is where the design ideas of tomorrow take shape!
BLICKFANG offers young talents a unique platform to make their creative visions visible and lay the foundation for their future in furniture and product design. Together with the D.E.S.I.G.N. Foundation, BLICKFANG will once again present the Future Forward Award in 2025—an accolade dedicated to supporting emerging designers who enrich the design world with sustainable and innovative concepts. Here, we introduce the two winning labels of BLICKFANG Zurich.

Valentino Scussel

With his eponymous label, Valentino Scussel brings a breath of fresh air to the world of design. Every piece from his Zurich studio is handcrafted in close collaboration with local artisans in Switzerland and Italy—a true declaration of love for craftsmanship and individuality.

A defining piece is his table with integrated steel tubes that create space for flower vases, candles, or bottles, transforming the table into a communicative centerpiece of the room. The Juicy lamp is equally unforgettable: bold in color, full of energy, and featuring an iconic form that conveys both light and atmosphere. Scussel’s designs make one thing clear—good design is allowed to be joyful, to stand out, to have character. His goal is clear: to create spaces that are as individual as the people who live in them.

DESIGNVERSE ZURICH

Jean-Paul Brkovic, foounder of DESIGNVERSE ZURICH believes in a kind of design that doesn’t push itself to the forefront, but instead integrates seamlessly into the lives of its users—flexible, durable, and responsible. His stackable furniture objects are made from recycled plastics such as ISO-certified HIPS or low-carbon PET and are produced in small batches in Wales, Germany, and Switzerland.

DESIGNVERSE understands design as a contribution to greater awareness in everyday life. A key piece is the UTO series, inspired by Zurich’s local mountain, the Uetliberg. Its clear form and low-to-the-ground use encourage a more mindful experience of living spaces. The furniture promotes “ground-level living”—a lifestyle that views closeness to the earth and reduction as a form of luxury. DESIGNVERSE celebrates the understated through technical sophistication and quiet poetry. This subtle radicalism has been recognized at events such as Salone Satellite in Milan and Paris Design Week, and is seen as a promising vision for a new generation of sustainable design.
