Why we initiated the award

We at BLICKFANG believe that design is more than just aesthetics. It is an attitude. A statement. A vision of how we live, work and value things.

That’s why we have been committed to independent, sustainable design beyond the mainstream for over 30 years – and with the Future Forward Award, especially for the next generation: brave talents who experiment with new ideas and materials and are ready to go their own way. The award was launched in 2018 to make forward-looking ideas visible and to specifically support the next generation in furniture design.

“With the Future Forward Award, we aim to offer young designers an entry ticket to the design scene. For us, it’s more than just visibility – we want to help ensure that good design is manufactured and experienced,” says Dieter Hofmann, Managing Director of BLICKFANG Designmesse.

The winners are selected by a jury of mentors, curators and members of the BLICKFANG Design Award committee.

What you can win

As a winner, you can look forward to:

• A curated exhibitor space free of charge at one of the BLICKFANG design fairs at a location of your choice
• Visibility on all Blickfang communication channels – online & offline
• Direct access to a qualified audience: professionals, opinion leaders & design enthusiasts
• Direct sale of your products at the fair
• Personal support from our team & jury mentors

In short: you get a stage. And the right people in front of it.

Who can apply

The award is aimed at young furniture and interior product designers with their own label who:

• are 35 years old or younger
• have already designed a piece of furniture or interior product (e.g. table, lamp, shelf) and ideally produced it in small series
• have never exhibited at BLICKFANG or have not exhibited at BLICKFANG in the last three years

Note: The Future Forward Award is aimed specifically at furniture and interior product designers. We ask for your understanding that applications from the fields of fashion, graphics or pure accessories can unfortunately not be considered.

To apply for the support, please submit the application form together with at least 3 photos of your product and a short product description and send them to futureforward@blickfang.com.
